Namesake Girl (lyrics by Kal Cahoone)
We were watching birds
When the news we heard
Seemed to stop the time
Was she ok
Would she be fine
The owner of our bloodline
We did it for her
You’re her namesake girl
What a lovely one at that
And she liked the birds and
She must have heard them calling
Don’t close your eyes
Don’t say goodbye
Until we meet again
One more time
We’ll listen to those stories you can’t write
With those aching hands
Oh how I’d like to make a little history of your life
Don’t close your eyes
No more goodbyes
Til we make it home
Til we make it home
Til we meet me again
Will we meet again
One more time.
You’ve already made
A history of your life.
I had the pleasure of seeing David Eugene Edwards at Fire in the Mountains 2022 and appreciated Wovenhand in a far deeper way that I did not when I saw him open for OM in March 2020. His solo Wovenhand performance on that stage, in the Teton wilderness, his vibrato echoing in the hills, really stuck with me as an emblematic sound of the vibe of that experience. Love his spectral, gothic, spiritual, and Western as hell mood. pinkytheent
Not so subtle reminisce of what is to be. Everything I didn’t understand reiterated eloquently. I didn’t want to know.
Beautiful key notes, percussions, and capo. Sandy loam, volcanic ash, 4900’ elevation. Essence of ash, beefsteak tomatoes, and rosy hips. jmtietjen
Maer, from Switzerland, debut with a haunted (and haunting) folk song that will warm you heart as it sends shivers down your spine. Bandcamp New & Notable Oct 23, 2022
Evocative songs from this California musician capture the full spectrum of human emotions with just bare vocals & electric guitar. Bandcamp New & Notable Nov 16, 2021
In paying homage to American country, folk, blues and rock and roll, Snakes has come full circle in recording (in the DIY punk ethic) music that is straight up fun to listen to all while evoking feelings of heartache, love, loss and nostalgia. Stuff we all know too well. David Love
