Things of this World (lyrics by Kal Cahoone) Don’t waste your time On the things of this world So I was told one day by a morning dove She coo’d and she called As she nested on the ground The cold and dusty ground. Are we all fallen somehow getting by I feel so broken and now know why Cuz the things of this world The things of this world And the things that I’ve heard bring me down Stay close to me Oh you little girl Don’t go out there and forget what’s here Are we all fallen somehow getting by I feel so shattered and now know why Cuz the things of this world The things of this world And the things that I’ve heard Bring me down To the ground.

More Wild Things (lyrics by Kal Cahoone) The blood on the rose The salt on the sea The milk of moonlight Upon a face Let us feed eachother Such wild things. The earth I’m on The sky belongs The clouds come in And it’s just enough For more wild things Reawakening Little boy dreams Cookies and creams I’ll make a space For you and me Enough so that We’re always free To drink up from This Holy Spring And to you I will always bring More wild things Reawakening Little boy dreams cookies and creams More real things What the day brings Little girl dreams Cookies and creams

What This is For (lyrics by Kal Cahoone) I’m drawn to the dirt like a song to a bird Like the way you heard your mother’s words I come down on my knees I’m hard to please We made it through the trees of desolation And there’s more to be thankful for you know Always more than we’d ever know you know Now I’m drawn to the earth Like death to rebirth I heard the truth in this quiet place. The way we are still livin’ at will This day and night and ever more We’ll know what this is for These rotten old knees have a story to tell The way we are still and lovin’ at will Remind me again when the wind comes this way There’s a fight that’s worth the fightin’ today The way we are still living at will This day and night and evermore We’ll know what this is for.

Fire Moves Quickly (lyrics by Kal Cahoone) Fire moves quickly across this barren land Fire moves quickly across this stolen land The rains give life In summertime The wind it fools us all. Fire moves quickly across this barren land We must be back in the west. In the hereafter In tears and laughter We make the most of it. And the days after we’ll make them matter We’ll make the most of it. You’ll say my faith is weak That I should get some sleep Well it’s weaker than you think Fire moves quickly cross this barren land.

Misfortune 03:49
Misfortune (Lyrics by Kal Cahoone) He met his wife At the Silver Dollar He’d been drinking there since nearly noon. Had a real long story to tell Bout his lonesome widowerhood Said he’d like to forget but never could. He turned to her and then declared: There’s no cure for my misfortune Yet to marry again. Said there’s no help for my frustration Yet to marry again. He was so beaten and broken down Yet the love he’d lost he’d found He turned to her and said these words: Said there’s no cure for misfortune Yet to marry again. Said there’s no help for my frustration Yet to marry again.

about

Kal Cahoone Bio
Kal began composing music/lyrics in Buenos Aires Argentina with Christian Basso whom she met while traveling in 1997. In 2000 she returned to the U.S. (Denver) and approached long-time local multi-talented musician John Rumley with a cassette tape of some of her recent music and asked if he would like to collaborate. From there was born Tarantella, and they recorded and released “Esqueletos” in 2005 with Ordy Garrison and Chad Johnson on drums, Kelly O’Dea on violin and Dan Granbois on bass, guitar and also recording and production by Bob Ferbrache.
She recorded for Wim Vandekybus of “Ultima Vez” dance troupe in Belgium releasing her first solo compositions on “Build the Fire,” recorded with Roger Green, violinist/multi-instrumentalist/vocalist Elin Palmer, Julie Davis on bass and recorded by Randall Frazier.
After the birth of her baby girl around that time Kal took a a break and then started to play “solo” releasing “Saints and Stars” 2008 with Mark McCoin on drums, Matt Shupe on guitar and Jason McDaniel on bass and also as sound engineer/producer.

About three years later she released “The Sickness and the Cure” by Kal Cahoone and the Dirty Pretty. This five song cd was composed with guitarist Al Scholl, Christopher Nelsen on drums, Evan Mellichampe on bass and again Elin Palmer joined the band near the end recording violin and vocals. Recording at Brickhaus with Colin Bricker.

Since then, Kal continued with Christopher and Elin in a trio called “Kal and Elin,” “The Things of this World” again based in Denver, releasing a 5 song ep recorded by Ron Gordon and produced by Randall Frazier in 2020.

She continues to play with “Kal and Elin” members and in the last year has added Leon Gonzalez on bass and guitar as well as long-time Tarantella companion from the past John Rumley. They are currently working on a new Tarantella album.
