The Sickness and the Cure (lyrics by Kal Cahoone) This is the sickness and the cure together Thought we were dying but we’re feeling better It is the locked door and the key Do we agree to disagree? It is the joyride and the accident A promise to stay I don’t know where he went And in the fall and in the spring We’re dying to be born again Yes it is true shall we admit not sure what will become of this it is withdrawal and the fix is there any love in the mix? If we could make it to the cordillera Get to top and take a vow I dare ya We’ll reach the highest kind of love All bright and shiny white All bright and shiny white All bright and shiny white

Green World 04:52
Green World (Kenneth Patchen “Nobody is a Long Time”) In this my green world Flowers birds are hands They hold me There is love all day I am amused I have to laugh from crying Trees branches are arms There is love all day Love all day. In this my beautiful green world There is love all day In this my beautiful green world There is love all day

Polka Dots 05:18
Polka Dots (lyrics by Kal Cahoone) Nothing is flawless ‘Neath the splintered sky They say this snow it fell to cover up All that is dead and rotten True but underneath I feel the baby’s breath I have no knowledge of higher worlds I want the knowledge of higher worlds The art of seeming like something I’m not It’s like we’re seeing all polka dots But I love the shadows in the back I want to love from where I’m at The branches break once more you Came into view I saw the crack in your smile But twice your eyes blue Oh they are so blue But I love the shadow on your back I want to love you where you’re at I love the shadows in the back I don’t want to see in white and black
4.
Namesake Girl (lyrics by Kal Cahoone) We were watching birds When the news we heard Seemed to stop the time Was she ok Would she be fine The owner of our bloodline We did it for her You’re her namesake girl What a lovely one at that And she liked the birds and She must have heard them calling Don’t close your eyes Don’t say goodbye Until we meet again One more time We’ll listen to those stories you can’t write With those aching hands Oh how I’d like to make a little history of your life Don’t close your eyes No more goodbyes Til we make it home Til we make it home Til we meet me again Will we meet again One more time. You’ve already made A history of your life.
5.
Sugar for Sugar (lyrics adapted from Rabbit Brown) The times they ain’t now Nothing like they used to be. The times they ain’t now Nothing like they used to be. And I’m telling you all the truth Oh take it from me, take it from me I done seen better days Yet I’m puttin up With these I’m giving you sugar for sugar I’ll let you get salt for salt Cuz I was born in the country He thinks I’m easy to rule But I done seen better days Yet I’m puttin up with these

Kal Cahoone Bio
Kal began composing music/lyrics in Buenos Aires Argentina with Christian Basso whom she met while traveling in 1997. In 2000 she returned to the U.S. (Denver) and approached long-time local multi-talented musician John Rumley with a cassette tape of some of her recent music and asked if he would like to collaborate. From there was born Tarantella, and they recorded and released “Esqueletos” in 2005 with Ordy Garrison and Chad Johnson on drums, Kelly O’Dea on violin and Dan Granbois on bass, guitar and also recording and production by Bob Ferbrache.
She recorded for Wim Vandekybus of “Ultima Vez” dance troupe in Belgium releasing her first solo compositions on “Build the Fire,” recorded with Roger Green, violinist Elin Palmer, Julie Davis on bass and recorded by Randall Frazier.
After the birth of her baby girl around that time Kal took a a break and then started to play “solo” releasing “Saints and Stars” 2008 with Mark McCoin on drums, Matt Shupe on guitar and Jason McDaniel on bass and also as sound engineer/producer.

About three years later she released “The Sickness and the Cure” by Kal Cahoone and the Dirty Pretty. This five song cd was composed with guitarist Al Scholl, Christopher Nelsen on drums, Evan Mellichampe on bass and again Elin Palmer joined the band near the end recording violin and vocals. Recording at Brickhaus with Colin Bricker.

Since then, Kal continued with Christopher and Elin in a trio called “Kal and Elin,” “The Things of this World” again based in Denver, releasing a 5 song ep recorded by Ron Gordon and produced by Randall Frazier in 2020.

She continues to play with “Kal and Elin” members and in the last year has added Leon Gonzalez on bass and guitar as well as long-time Tarantella companion from the past John Rumley. They are currently working on a new Tarantella album.
